Nestled between Tyrol and Vorarlberg at the north face of the distinctive Ballunspitze mountain, the prehistoric Silvapark via ferrata is a highlight for experienced climbers and passionate mountaineers. The challenging tour is rich in variety and features steep rock faces and breathtaking landscapes.

Once you have reached the top, you’re rewarded with excellent views of the Silvretta glaciers, the ragged rock towers of the Rätikon and the turquoise waters of the Kops reservoir at 1,809 metres above sea level. 

The Silvapark via ferrata is suitable for children aged twelve and above. Don’t forget to bring appropriate equipment including a harness, via ferrata set, helmet and gloves. The best time to visit the via ferrata and push your limits is between June and end of September. Be careful in wet weather!

Route details

The approach
Take the Alpkogelbahn cable car to the mountain station and follow the marked trail to “Klettersteig Silvapark”. After about 60 minutes, you reach the entrance to the via ferrata.

The via ferrata
The route starts at 2,250 metres above sea level with a steep, chimney-like ramp – not for the faint at heart! With an altitude difference of 351 metres, the via ferrata mostly has a difficulty level of grade B/C, with the exception of two grade C/D sections with overhangs. After about one hour, you reach the summit.

The descent
The descent takes you down the via ferrata in a north-westerly direction. Simply follow the climb tracks secured with tread plates and grips. At about 2,250 metres above sea level, you are back at the entrance of the via ferrata. From there, follow the trail back to Alpkogelbahn cable car.
