Continue on the B 188 (Silvretta Bundesstraße) towards the Paznaun. In summer, it’s nice to leave the motorway at Bludenz and drive the rest of the way on the stunningly beautiful Silvretta High Alpine Road.
  • Coming from the A 22 heading north: Once you have crossed the Brenner Pass, take the A 13 towards Innsbruck. Continue along the A 12 and the S 16. Take exit Pians and drive the last remaining kilometres to Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl and See on the Silvretta Bundesstraße (B 188).

  • Either take the A 3 towards Feldkirch or the A 1 towards Lustenau and Dornbirn. From there, take the A 14 towards Innsbruck. After passing the Arlberg tunnel, stay on Arlbergschnellstraße. Leave the motorway at Pians and cruise along the Silvretta Bundesstraße (B 188) towards your home away from home.

What you should know: useful facts for driving in Austria

To drive on Austrian motorways, you need a toll sticker. You can either buy a sticker right at the border or from a local tobacconist (valid for ten days, two months or one year) or get a digital toll sticker online. By the way: Additional charges apply for the Arlberg tunnel!

During traffic jams, drivers on Austrian motorways are required to form an emergency corridor. To do so, drivers in the left lane keep left, while all others pull all the way over to the right (including the service lane).

For up-to-the minute traffic information check out the ÖAMTC traffic service.

Between November and April, cars must be equipped with winter tyres in Austria. Depending on weather conditions, snow chains may be necessary as well. After all, from time to time snow can even occur in summer in the Paznaun!

In addition, it is mandatory to have one high-visibility vest per person on board.

Getting there by plane

If you arrive by plane, the nearest airport is Innsbruck. From there, simply take the bus, train or taxi to your holiday resort in the Paznaun.
