The hiking event for everyone!

Galtür invites hiking guests to the 50th International Silvretta Ferwall March on 19.08.2023 to the blue Silvretta.

Participants can choose the following 4 routes: the family route (13.5 km), the Silvretta route (19.2 km), Ferwall route (32.7 km) and the Marathon route (42.195 km).

Especially families with children of all ages enjoy this wonderful event format. The treasure hunt at the family route is really popular among the little hikers and obtaining the silver or bronze medal is the big goal for them. For all hikers, the impressive mountain landscape of Ferwall and Silvretta, the alpine flora and fauna and the common fun of hiking, is the reason to take part at this summer highlight of the Galtür.

Routes & catering

The Ferwall route
32.7 kilometers | altitude difference: 1,199 m

First the route leads from Galtür to Wirl, from there on over the Zeinisjoch, past the Verbella Alpe to the Heilbronner Hütte. The trail then passes the Grieskogeljoch and continues to the Friedrichshafener Hütte. After the descent to Tschafein, the trail follows the Höhenweg to the finish.

The Silvretta route
19.2 kilometers | altitude difference: 618 m

After the start at the village square, the route leads towards Wirl. From there, the route leads over the Zeinisjoch and then along the reservoir wall up to the Breitspitze. From the peak the route returns to the Alpkogel cable car and straight to the finish.

The family route (prams suitable)
13.5 kilometers | Difference in altitude: 150 m + Birkhahnbahn

From Galtür the route leads first to Wirl, up with the Alpkogelbahn, then via the Kops reservoir up to the Zeinisjoch and back to Galtür. The Silvretta family route is a great experience especially for children! Tip: the route is accessible with prams.

The Marathon route
42.195 kilometers | Difference in altitude: 1,955 m

From Galtür to Wirl, across the Zeinisjoch, past the Verbella Alpe to the Heilbronner Hütte. Then up over the Grieskogeljoch at 2,698 metres to the Friedrichshafner Hütte. Descent to Tschafein and along the hiking trail to the Larein Alpe. From there, the trail leads directly to the finish via the Höhenweg.
