„Weiße Weiten“

On three stages, the trail takes you through the entire valley. The easy hiking trail for nature lovers with good stamina leads through a magical, snow-covered mountain landscape. Expect impressive winter scenarios and fascinating views!

the stages

The first stage of the long-distance winter hiking trail from See to Kappl is a feast for nature lovers. Starting at the valley station of Medrigjochbahn cable car in See, the 15.9-kilometre-long, easy trail runs through the picturesque hamlet of Oberhaus towards Kappl ski resort, where numerous cosy mountain lodges await. Just before the end of the trail, at the mountain station of Diasbahn cable car, you can either take a Snooc (sit-on ski) back down to the valley or hop on the cable car.

Important information: A Snooc can be hired from the Sunny Mountain Restaurant for 5 Euro. After use, the Snooc must be sent back up in the cable car at the Diasbahn valley station. When travelling by cable car, the single ride ticket for Medrig/Dias must be purchased at the ticket office of the Medrigjochbahn valley station in See.

The 18.8-kilometre-long second stage of the trail starts at the valley station of Diasbahn cable car and takes you through the picturesque village of Kappl. Passing by alpacas and traditional barns, the trail continues towards the Nederle district in Kappl. From there, you can catch the bus and travel from “Kappl Nederle” to “Ischgl Ebene”, where the trail continues towards Silvretta Therme and through the hamlet of Paznaun to Brandli in Mathon. Shortly afterwards, on the opposite side of the road, you can see Silvretta Wildlife Park, which provides you with fascinating insights about the local animals. From there, follow the trail to Waldkapelle chapel and Tschafein in Galtür. Continue towards Galtür Dorf, where this stage of the trail ends.

The 8.9-kilometre-long third stage of the long-distance winter hiking trail starts in Galtür Dorf and continues towards Wirl. From there, follow the trail to Lake Zeinissee and Kops reservoir. The Zeinis winter hiking trail is one of the most beautiful trails in the Paznaun valley, and many stories revolve around it. It marks the border between the provinces of Vorarlberg and Tyrol as well as the main water divide between the rivers Rhine and Danube. In addition, it connects the Verwall and Silvretta mountains. Along the winter hiking trail, you can find numerous restaurants serving traditional Tyrolean treats. Please note that Alpengasthof Zeinissee is closed during winter.
